Pittsburgh CLO Lines Up Broadway Stars for Celebration of Shirley Jones

The gala on September 21 includes a concert with Kelli O’Hara, Sierra Boggess, Jessie Mueller, Adam Pascal and Norm Lewis

Leading lady of movie musicals, Oscar winner and Smithton, PA, native Shirley Jones will be honored by Pittsburgh CLO in an all-star concert and reception on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Byham Theater.

The lineup of stars coming to Pittsburgh for the celebration of Jones’ remarkable career includes performances by Broadway royalty: Kelli O’Hara, Sierra Boggess, Jessie Mueller, Adam Pascal and Norm Lewis.  Shirley Jones’ sons – Patrick Cassidy, Shaun Cassidy and Ryan Cassidy – are hosts of the event.

Patrick Cassidy serves as director of the gala, with musical director Kimberly Grigsby, currently on Broadway with O’Hara, for The Days of Wine and Roses.

The gala celebration serves as “a vital fundraiser” for Pittsburgh CLO’s Education and Arts programs.

Jones, who turned 90 on March 31, is known for leading roles in films of The Music Man, Carousel and Oklahoma!, as well as matriarch of TV’s The Partridge Family, and for her Academy Award-winning role in Elmer Gantry.

She began her acting career at the Pittsburgh Playhouse Theatre School, and won the Miss Pittsburgh contest in 1952.

Shaun, Patrick, and Ryan Cassidy said in a statement, “As our mother turned 90 this year, we are thrilled that her hometown of Pittsburgh, and the Pittsburgh CLO, are honoring her with what will be a rich and emotional evening. We are looking forward to sharing personal stories of life with mom while these extraordinary performers lift the audience to their feet with the songs that made her famous. Bring your Kleenex.”

All-Inclusive Gala Tickets include a tribute concert beginning at 4 p.m., followed by a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. at the Omni William Penn Hotel, leading into a seated dinner with the stars of the show, beginning at 7 p.m. Complimentary transportation between locations will be provided by Molly’s Trolleys of Pittsburgh.
