Head to the Point to see Squonk Perform Their New Music Spectacle, ‘Brouhaha,’ this 4th of July

Play the Set Itself: The Giant Squonkcordion

Squonk will perform “Brouhaha,” a new immersive outdoor spectacle bursting with rollicking music, dazzling imagery, and the thrill of audience participation. At the center of this riotous romp is the Squonkcordion, an enormous musical instrument powered by behemoth bellows topped with towering tuba bells. At the peak of the performance, Squonk invites the audience to play this foghorn organ, welcoming them to experience the joy of a brass band and the fireworks of community.

Led by Jackie Dempsey and Steve O’Hearn, co-artistic directors, Squonk is a group of Pittsburgh-based musicians and artists. The group’s productions have taken it to Off-Broadway, Broadway, Europe, Asia, and the United States. Lincoln Center and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presented Squonk’s last show.

Free as part of Pittsburgh’s Independence Day Celebration at Point State Park. Squonk will perform at 5:15 and 7:15 p.m. on July 4, 2024
